Very Weird Brake Issues!

But would the rear shoes create a wheel wobble when braking?

Not directly I would say, but with the shoes touching the drum it would cause heat to build up on one side causing everything to expand. My experience was that the vibration would start while driving normally and then it would start to vibrate heavily. I would stop the car and continue on with no vibration. Had the rears done under warranty, didn't have an issue until a week or so ago when my EPB stuck on.

Now doing the full rear end myself as its out of warranty.

Have you all had luck sorting this problem out...?

Just a thought. It could also be caused by the tires, or electronically by a faulty ABS pickup that is messing with the braking bias. I have not seen or heard of it on the LR's, but I spent many years in the motor industry as a journalist and often saw this with some of the American SUV's, and the big Japanese Land Cruiser. They were the worst for that issue.

I have an issue now where I am getting humming and droning under braking... Not always, and the disks front have done about 20000kms, and the back still seems to have a little bit to go.... So I am hoping its just the tires Previously Freelander II

Rub the palm of your hand over the tread and feel for directional wear steps, exaggerated like going up or down stairs, if a step is felt on each block of treads turn the wheels round across the axle or diagonally. This will cure tyre drumming Thumbs Up It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.
