V8 petrol to TDV6 conversion?

I came across a D3 V8 petrol non runner which appears to be in very good shape. With a donor vehicle, would there be any major obstacles (including time) to do a conversion to diesel?

I am not thinking of this as a preferred solution, more of an alternative plan B if the petrol engine was junk.

It would be a shame to convert a V8 to V6 - the former command a better price.

Rebuilt V8s engines are, I believe, available & are in any event probably easier to rebuild than the V6.

I would like to have a v8 d3 lpg converted would be nice but they command silly money, the ones iv looked at have little to no service history and seem unloved by their owners.

If ours was to go bang or suffer any other serious problems a v8 would be right up their on my list of replacements.

I do run a v8 l322 lpg as my daily cant fault it.

It would be more cost effective to buy a diesel D3 or put a recon V8 in what you have. As others have said in the past of such projects, never try and self build a vehicle that you can buy and diesel D3's are easy to buy.

A D3 v8 on lpg would be the ideal car I run a L322 v8 on lpg and it's great the wifes D3 derv only does 19.5 mpg and is our true family work horse.
I'm just about to do the full v8 brake disc conversion next week

honestly wouldn't bother LPG converting a D3 V8 I see 21-22 out of mine on a run and 20-21 on my commute.

I might possible get to 26-27 in a diesel version I guess on the same trip
her RRS sdv6 gets 28 on the same with the 8 speed box and is slightly less filing cabinet shaped.

If you're driving any of them round town of course they will all be shocking and I doubt a diesel is any better in stop start traffic than a V8

Don't forget petrol is cheaper than diesel too which helps in the comparison and the fact that the V8s are ULEZ compliant whihc appears to make the associated value significantly higher
