Two-way radio for off-road excursions

What do most people use for group comms these days when going for a team excursion - PMR, LPD, CB or paper cups and string?

Yep, CB. PMRs are just pants over all but very short distances, esp in-car to in-car. Thumbs Up

One other thing to bear in mind in relation to cb's is that if you go for a hand held one they are pretty useless in a car unless you have an external aerial. Thumbs Up

Got an Alan 42 CB which easily transports between any of my cars, each of which is fitted with an aerial and cable, and a power supply. It's a great reliable unit. I have a set of pmr radios too, but rarely use them.

CB. Don't use it except for lanes so it's not fixed in the car permanently.

I use CB car to car and amateur radio group to group.

I didn't think CBs would be the popular choice and not something I own. I do have a few PMRs though that have a really good range.

I didn't know what a PMR is so I Googled it and got this : https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kel-Tec_PMR-30

I suppose you can use it to get your message across.

I'm happy with my 9mm Glock - less bits to loose and easier to put back together again when boredom strikes.
