TSBs and Door Latches/alarm |
|
As with a few of you my D4 V6TD 2010, alarm started playing up recently. On locking the car the driver door does not lock and it triggers the alarm if I open it. Sometimes I get a single beep as if a door is open...but they are all closed. If I double lock the doors the driver's door may or may not lock...depending on the wind direction I guess.
My dealer claims that I need a new bonnet latch/switch and a new driver door latch. But I don't trust my dealer after a number of incidences with them.
They will not give me part numbers to buy from elsewhere so I have been looking them up.
There are TSBs for both of these issues.
Does this mean I can insist that the dealer fixes the problems free of charge?
Or is it just LR admitting a problem but not taking responsibility for a solution?
Can anyone point me to the correct part numbers as it appear that the bonnet latch has been altered and I don't want to buy the old one.
Many thanks to all

Definitely sounds like a broken door latch - they start to degrade and act erratically before finally giving up.
My D4 is currently in the garage having one fitted under warranty. Very common issue.
I had the exact same issue twice on my D3 and change them by myself on the driver's and rear doors. It takes about 1-2hours and you need nimble hands. (search on here for detailed instructions and part numbers). Also Gone : MY14 D4 SDV6 HSE : Barolo Black + Almond

What I don't understand is why both bonnet and driver door latches have to be replaced. I've looked for part numbers but can't find on this site using search

I have no idea why you would also need to change the bonnet latch unless that was somehow also broken.
Why don't you just call a different dealer and ask their parts department for the correct part numbers based off of your VIN. Also Gone : MY14 D4 SDV6 HSE : Barolo Black + Almond

I live in a tiny country with only one dealer! They refuse to give part numbers and will not fit parts that are not purchased through them. I think that the reason they say I need a new bonnet latch is because the "bonnet open" warning light came on a few time when the bonnet was not open.
My main concern is the alarm going off and the driver's door not locking. The joke is that car crime here is almost non-existent! But the alarm going off in the middle of the night for noe reason is a bummer!

Ah I see - at first glance I thought that you were from USA from the flag - I must get my eyes tested
Why don't you try these guys in the UK.

Ok...took your advice and have the part numbers thanks to Britcar.
Apparently my dealer says I need the bonnet latch due to the fact that the "bonnet open" warning light comes on randomly although the bonnet is closed. Oddly it never comes on when the bonnet is open!
