Trying Click4warranty because Warranty Direct won't cover me

Hi,

I'm looking for a warranty policy for my D3 and I tried Warranty Direct as most people here seem to rate them. My D3 has done 146k (05 plate) so they won't cover me. They did direct me to a company called click4warranty http://www.click4warranty.co.uk and looking at their warranty it seems pretty good - however I have no knowledge of these things.

There are 3 levels (3,4 and 5 star)

Up to £5k claim limit (per claim) and over 12 months

3 = £429.43
4 = £459.37
5 = £604.75

You can change the term to 24 and 36 months and the claim amount from £3k to £7k

Betterment included on a car over 60k miles

This is what's included in the warranty

https://www.click4warranty.co.uk/products/parts-list-overview
https://www.click4warranty.co.uk/products/5starwarranty

Could anyone with any knowledge on these things help me please by giving their opinion on this policy?

Many thanks in advance.

Ian

I'm not sure I understand all this - I hope someone can help me get a handle on it.

So at the moment, my car is sitting on the drive with no actual fault (that I know of).

However it's a 05 and I don't think the oil pump has been changed, so potentially there IS a problem ready and waiting.

If I took out a warranty (and after the appropriate amount of days have passed), can I drive down to my local LR Indie garage and have them investigate the oil pump and get it repaired under the warranty?

It hasn't failed so would I be covered? Or do I have to wait for it to go fizz before it would be warranty claim?

(I understand that really I ought to just go and get it done - and I will - but I'm just trying to understand it all)

I realise that each policy and warranty company are different and will act differently but I'm trying to way up whether I buy a policy or just save money every month or even open a credit card and pile money into that as and when I need to have repairs done.

I appreciate your thoughts.

Thanks for the replies.

Looking at the FAQ's on click4warranty:

Quote:
The Click4Warranty Mechanical Breakdown Insurance is suitable for cars that have covered up to 150,000 miles, cover will terminate if your car exceeds this.

I'm at 146k so it's probably not worth bothering with, I think I will have to plan B and start saving Rolling Eyes

Look at RAC / AA breakdown cover - I think they offer a contribution to garage repairs in the event of failure.
