Title Audio Loss/Crackle
Category Electrical
Last modified 05-Sep-2013 00:00:00
Symptom 207000 Entertainment Systems
Content
Issue:
Customer failure mode is an intermittent 1-2s loss of audio in any source, which then recovers but can happen multiple times.
The occurrences may vary depending on location and proximity to transmitters in the UK.
Cause:
The issue first occurred on Wednesday 28th August and corresponds with a change in the UK Broadcast for TV Electronic Programme Guide (EPG) feature.
This issue appears only to affect vehicles fitted with the Lear Hybrid TV module.
The broadcast causes the TV module to carry out a reset which results in a temporary loss in audio, irrespective of which audio function is being used e.g. (Radio, CD, etc).
Action:
As a temporary measure and with customer approval it is possible to mask this drop out by setting the TV region to USA. However, this does prevent the TV from operating but provides a quick although temporary fix until a more permanent resolution can be found.
1. No parts are to be changed in an attempt to resolve this issue.
2. Disable TV by selecting USA region from the touchscreen
3. It is essential to perform a successful shut down of thevehicle electrical system, by ensuring the ignition system is off and not used for a minimum of 5 minutes. This ensures the TV records this as a 'last good state' and that the new region is stored when the vehicle is powered on.
4. This is a temporary solution until permanent fix can be established. JLR will communicate this permanent fix as soon as possible. 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

FYI - I have this problem in my 2011 D4. I had the car in Hunters Landrover in Guildford (Surrey) yesterday and they said that there is now a software updates that fixes this issue for 2013 and 2012 models of the D4.
I'll have to wait a few weeks longer for the 2011 fix they said.

That's good to know a fix has been worked.
Not a surprise that Stratstone have not contacted me though, despite them promising I would be the very first to be informed when a fix is announced!
Looks like I will be chasing them again! Nige - 2014 Disco 4 TDV6 HSE Luxury - Scotia Grey

I've had the same fault on my 2012my HSE with the TV - took it into the dealer 3 weeks ago for a software update but it refused to download so the car came home with me. It's gone back in today for a second try so we will have to see what happens.......! 2017 Discovery Sport HSE, Firenze Red

I doubt this is the same issue as the software in the Tv module should have been the revised version when your vehicle was built. You could try the temp fix mentioned in the TSB and and if that fixes the issue, you know you have a Tv software issue. If not, it’s back to the drawing board. 012MY RRS 5.0 Supercharged Autobiography (Current)
