I’ve had sticky callipers on a few cars, not the discovery yet! I always found that taking the pads out and pushing the piston back in and refitting sorted it out, if it happens again then probably worth replacing.

remove the calliper, buy new pistons and seals. give it a very good clean with break fluid and rebuild it. the most difficult part is the cleaning. to install the seals and the pistons is no more than 30 min job. then you will have a new calliper that will last for long.

If you are an expert engineer
There is a groove behind the piston rubber that needs cleaning out.

Is it the caliper binding or just the caliper sliders, new caliper carriers are cheap enough.

yes but usually the pistons are gone, even small scratches are making them not useable. at least when i do callipers the pistons are to be replaced.

It is also worth noting that when rear brake lines start collapsing brake booster will work double time to push fluid through and to caliper pistons but it will also be hard for a brake fluid to move freely back and forth in those lines, due to collapsed spots, causing brake calipers to stick and wear pads to thin leaves. Speaking from personal experience. Do you hear brake booster to work a little longer at start up ?

I replaced a piston on mine but the problem returned. It was the groove dirty.
Generally as calipers are cheap, its sensible to replace them.

The OSR caliper on mine suddenly started to bind on mine back in the summer. Arrived in Plymouth to the tell tale smell of hot brakes & lots of smoke.
The sliders were free, it was the caliper. Picked up a pair cheap enough from AF, simple enough to replace, back in the game in no time at all.
That said, I do need to change the rear discs now as well. The OSR is slightly warped due to the heat. Not noticeable at slow speed but shows itself under sustained braking at speed once heat generates in the disc.
