Stew worth cleaning and lubing carrier pins. I removed the disc cleaned brake shoes etc hard to tell sometimes which of the three is the issue. As replaced caliper then it was still getting hot cancelled MOT a couple of times but got there in the end Welsh Collie Chauffeur Service To Barney & Rooney.

Forcing the piston back can turn the master cylinder seal lip back the wrong way.
The recommended method is to clamp the rubber hose and open the bleed nipple slightly, having first fitted a hose from the nipple into a bottle / jar.
To be honest I am not sure what you hope to achieve moving the piston. You may free it up but for how long?.
Personally I do not consider rebuilding calipers worthwhile as after postage the saving seems small and the job will probably need doing again in a year's time.
The problem with sticking pistons is more often than not a build up of grot and corrosion on the caliper bore.
As others have suggested it would pay to check, clean or replace the stainless steel pad tracks then apply copperease to them. Similarly the caliper slide pins are worth checking and lubricating with brake grease or PTFE spray, not an oil based grease which will rot the rubber covers.
Good luck. Working on this in cold weather is not much fun.
