If youre getting used, then you should be able to find one with Priv Glass & steps. All dealers worth theor salt would rather you hav discount off the parts than the car as they make most markup on parts.Bodsys Brake Bible

Search on the landrover website until you find one with all the bits you want at the right price. All dealers will negotiate on price you will get a better deal without a trade in. But remember £260 will get you privacy glass. Also I dont know what you want to pay but you can get a brand new HSE for around £39K. See the thread on HSE price for example of what people paid. I sold my 05 HSE after 8 months to a dealer as a trade in for 33K so that should give you an idea of the depreciation.

Sell privately = your better off.
Trade in = dealer better off.
Just a rule of thumb...

I sold my 04 Landmark with 42k miles in Jan. The stealers offered 13 k against a demo HSE or new XS and 11k against a 06 S. Hence I bought my D3 off a private garage and saved about 6k on the stealers offer.
If you can sell it private.

Hiya, swapped my '53 D2 GS with ACE, & other extras on 25K miles for 05 HSE last October. Cost to change was 20K. Original screen price was £35995. You should find one on Land Rover website (approved used).
My D2 had no real problems, the D3 has and (due to water inside) I'm still awaiting it coming back from dealers.
My advice would be check the carpets for water and brakes for rubbing and/or squeaking at low speeds.
Also for second hand get the LR dealer to print out the service records for your piece of mind.
Still think the D3 is a fantastic all round vehicle, and there are more happy people with them than there are moaning. The '56 Metropolis I have currently on loan is faultless and its currently on the LR website approved used (Marshall Peterborough).
