Flashing P Gear selection |
|
In the middle of the electric dash under fuel and temp level indicators There is an indication of the gear you currently have selected.
I have just made a small trip in to town and when I parked the car up and switched off the engine the P (gear selection not Parking brake) indicator kept flashing. I have never seen this before (well I don't think I have).
Has anyone else witnessed this and does it mean something? D4 HSE

Hi JonM,
Thanks for the reply. I had defiantly selected Park prior to pressing stop button. It normally will not let you stop engine if not in Park.
Bit of an update: Rang local stealers and advised to get it booked in as they had never seem or heard of this before.
Thought I would just double check. The P continues to flash until vehicle finally goes to sleep. Started and stopped and once again it started to flash soon as engine stopped. What I did notice, was if I gave the gear stick a little wobble it stopped. Did this a few times at different time intervals and it stopped every time I moved the gear stick left/right slightly. This leads me to think it may be a sensor issue. I am not sure of what is in there electronically and what the logic is to make it flash on close down. Hopefully stealers will be able to identify and sort. D4 HSE

Could be the gear selector lever getting a bit stiff and not going into park properly, may be worth having a look at DiscoMikey's tutorial here
