Upgrading audio system from High Line to Premium.
Has anyone here ever upgraded their system? I noticed that there are cables and connectors in the D-styles and center dashboard. I have bought extra speakers for these and installed a premium amplifier. All connectors in the high line and premium amplifier are the same, so I hoped it would be plug and play. Unfortunately it's not ðŸ˜
Advices and comments 🤔 are appreciated

Is there a list for parts needed for upgrading infotainment system from the D4 2010 small screen to 2012 fully sat/nav system, and is it possible?

Cost prohibitive John, a lot of us would like to do it but just not possible in reality
I have read different places there can be challenges to connect a new mediaplayer to the existing sound system. I ave the Harman Kardon Soundsystem in my car, does anybody know if there is a wiring loom to connect to the sound system (and maybe get the steering wheel controller to connect)?
If there are some guidances for making custom wire looms, that would be great.

Hi BBS SPY,
Did you go any further with the retrofit?
Just curious about it. Whether it is worthwhile looking for a donor vehicle or parts.
Alternatively do you know if the Bluetooth module for the 2012 is in the IAM or is it seperate? If it is seperate can the 2011 bluetooth module be replaced by the 2012? Would the audio streaming be possible to enable then?
Regards

D4 2012 Retrofit HSE entertanment system
Few years ago just after purchasing my 2012 D4 which had the basic infotainment system I upgraded it and put some posts on this forum. From memory the changes involved and obtained from various sources including EBay were:-
HK power amp which was located in rear O/S quarter panel (UK spec) + mounting bracket from dealers
New speakers in doors, rear tailgate and front pillars - Focal speakers with 1.5mm wiring back to amp
audio control panel change from basic to the high spec + LR connection wiring
Touchscreen display with interconnecting wiring and mounting bezel/trim
Radio/CD/Sat nav main module that sits behind the dash
Sat nav module that I cut into the external rear brake light module
Aerial amplifiers for the DAB radio and AM/FM located in rear roof area - antennas already on rear quarter windows.
Bluetooth module
Reversing camera
Front cameras
Vidieo module located under passenger seat
There was also quite a lot on interconnecting wiring and connectors. Some I got from EBay which were LR if I was lucky or JLR the rest from Farnell premier electronics supplier. There are different coms being used between these modules, some are fibre optic (orange twin leads) and others HS and LS CAN with I think a slower coms to the sterring wheel controls.
All of this lot then needed programming into the body control module with settings changed.
I did have loads of other info but cannot remember where I saved it now but in any event it was a bit of an epic but worth it as I still have the vechicle.

So I'm trying to update my 2011 to a 2012 system. I have the touchscreen, IAM Head Unit, AMP, SDARS, and the complete wiring harness from a donor 2012 vehicle. My 2011 is fully loaded with surround cameras and RSE. So do I need anything else to make this work? I wonder if this is successful will the cluster show the radio info on there also. Maybe wishful thinking.
