Evening guys.
Anyone got advice/experience regarding servicing a Disco at a non Landrover dealer?
Went into my local dealership (Was Rossleigh now Stratstone, Newcastle) yesterday for a 30,000 service quote.
They wanted £450 + parts Is this normal?
My amazed/gobsmacked look resulted in the guy going on to say "well if you can get a better quote give me a call and I'll see what I can do - after all we don't want to lose your business!!!!"
What is going on with dealerships these days !!! Anyone else got any similar experiences to share?
Anyone know of a worthy garage to service my Disco in the Newcastle area?
Mark

Thats way over the top.
My 60K service is being quoted as £350 inc vat all in at Shukers in Ludlow. LR dealer.
Stratstone appear to be quoting high assuming most will pay the cost in a premium brand but will price match if you shop around for quotes.
Call around a few more rural LR dealers and then tell Startstone's what you have been quoted.

Take a trip over the Pennines for a day out in Coniston, I am sure the site sponsors Lakeland Land Rover will beat that, and give you an excellent service too

NDC, I'm in the same boat as you living in the NE. The best bet is a day trip to the Lakes. Going to Kentdale used to save me £200 on a major service for my Defender, and they'd laugh at the Newcastle prices.

Hi Simon,
I'll ring around in the next few days - truth is though, I'm not prepared to go back, why should !
I'll drop a letter to Stratstone - I'll let you know what happens.
Anyone want to share there service costs? This will give me an idea of what I'll be looking at
Cheers
Mark

I got Stratstones to sick with a Rossleigh quote in Dec at £274 for 1st service, but they were not happy. They wanted to charge me more. When next service is due if it's silly money, I will tell them and go the the Lakes for the day where im sure (hope) Lakeland will be better. Can you let me know what happens with Stratstones, N/cle. Arctic Frost Discovery 3 TDV6 SE, Active Rear Diff, Adaptive Head Lights, Tow Pack, Ebony Leather, Roof Rails, Mantec Guard. Tasmod Stainless Sill plates. Grabber AT's. Home made mud flaps. Side Steps back on until the next time.

To be honest if the City based dealers want to quote a high price then price match - I would rather take my business else where I now have to drive a 90 mile round trip so thats 180 miles in total. But I would rather have a good honest dealership working on my car.
If only all the dealers were as good as Shukers. 15 3.0 RRS HSE - Silver
05 2.7TDV6 S AUTO Silver - Retro-fitted Leather.

Mark,
For what it's worth (and in addition to their excellent deal on spares - thanks, Nick), Yeovil LR quoted over the 'phone £250 all-in for a first service back in July without asking about other dealers' quotes or whether the car was supplied by them.
(They also included a can of WD-40 gratis, which was slightly mystifying but welcome) Time flies like an arrow; fruit flies like a banana
