You can go to Argos to buy a cheap two-way radio if you want..... To quote another disco3 member, these items are more of a liability than a communications tool.
There are Binatones, Cobras, BT's and even some cheap Motorolas, but none of them cut the mustard in the real world. One of the most widely regarded 'professional' Licence free 446Mhz radios is the Entel HT446. Best of all, it is fully submersible in water (or mud) and is a proper radio - not a toy.
The RRP for these things is not cheap. At over £180 (inc vat/del) they come with a proper lithium-ion battery (good for 24hrs use), a 240v charge pod, a 12v cigar plug charger adaptor AND a two year warranty.
However, if there is interest amongst the great disco3 community, you can have these for the trade price of:
£135 inc vat and UK courier delivery
Note your interest and I will PM the details to you.
and saying that, I have used a pair of binatone cheapies for years as service crew and rallying on road sections to speak to crew etc....
Good range and run for ages on a set of AA's. These do look good but lots of wedge "To finish first, one first has to finish ...."

These are very good PMR's, together with the Motorola XTN's they seem to be the only PMR's that don't pick up any interference from the Disco3's electronics
OK, just to answer questions and clarify a few points:
d3Matt - Which cheaper model would you like?
90BHP - Everything seems cheaper on eBay
90BHP - If you are happy with Binacrap then that's fine. Just dont drop them in a puddle and don't forget a supply of AA's. You gets what you pay for.......
Pelyma - Everything needed is in the box. Radio c/w antenna, battery, charger pod, UK (3-pin) PSU, 12v cigar plug, user manual.
Slimer - I know it's a good price
Cliff H - ALL PMR446 radios can talk to eachother. Some can do a lot more than others though. Not to be confused with USA spec FRS radios which are illegal in the UK and work on different frequencies.
TFC - Prefer the HT to the XTN as the build is better and the submersibility is a huge plus point. Not just for dropping in puddles - even if you just want to wash it in the sink
Also, just to explain that this isn't quite a typical group buy. It's more of an offer just for my D3 collegues!!!
There is nothing under-hand and the kit is brand new, boxed and exactly what you would normally pay £180+ for. I work for a professional two way radio dealer (Entel, Motorola, Icom, Kenwood etc) and I'm doing this out of the goodness of my heart...........
because I'm the MD and therefore I can !!! 8)

What is the price difference and size difference to the Motorola that TFC mentioned? Sorry for all the questions, but thanks for your help!
BTW my son has a binatone and it got run over by 200 cars and caravans and survived! Fortunatley the soil was soft and it got pushed in without breaking!! I have used them for a year or so and am now looking at this offer - read into that what you want.DS3 TDV6 HSE - Silver with Alpaca (old one) Gone
