| Battery Light + Whining Noise |

Hey
About a month ago the battery light came on the dashboard...but disappeared the next day.
However last week it came on again and has stayed on. I checked voltage at idle at it is sitting @ 13.52
Now over the last few days there has been a whining noise that increases and decreases in line with engine revs.
At first I thought it was transmission but it make same noise while revving stationary in Park.
Do you think it is faulty alternator on its last legs or do you think it is just a slipping belt?
