Took the car to the Land Rover dealer this morning and spent half an hour with a mechanic. Nothing wrong with suspension as far as they could see but recommended that they we do four wheel alignment. Booked in tomorrow and I'll feedback on how we get on if that fixes the problem.

My car was side swiped by a volvo and after it had been repaired it veered all over the motorway like a faulty supermarket trolley. A 4 wheel alignment sorted'everything out.
Gotta be worth a shot.

Could someone explain (from a technical point of view) why wheel alignment is connected with wobblyness? I thought that wheel alignment results in car not moving in a straight line (or when braking), uneven tire wear etc. The harmonic dampers would make more sense to me. Thanks.

Have either of the technicians involved here actually driven your cars and agreed that they think there is a problem?
There were a couple of instances a while ago on here of a bolt shearing on the rear suspension, not one of the wishbone bolts, but the link rod that runs from the bottom wishbone. ISTR it was not immediately obvious. Maybe a red herring, I'll keep searching for the thread.

Have you checked the tyres, I had the same issue on my D3 and it turned out to be incorrect load rated tyres, from memory they were 107's and not 111. Dealer would not have it that this could or would cause an issue but after driving the car agreed it was worth a shot wheels were swapped for one of thecars on sale on the forecourt with good tread and proper load rating, car drove like a totally diffrent car. Wheels swapped back and a brand new set ot correct ryres fitted, problem solved and me a happy bunny. MY17 D5 1st Edition Namib Orange

Found it. I think you need to read THIS thread carefully.
It seems the rear toe link bolts are weak and breakage not immediately apparent. A small low speed bump in the wrong direction can snap them.

Got the 4 wheel alignment or geometry done and the car drives much better. Not saying it is fixed yet until wife has tried it but seems it's improved it
