Hi all, new here and need advice?. Had car serviced and mot. Today, failed on rear tyres ( wranglers) 5 mm tread on outside, inside 25% slick. Had car 4 wheel aligned and was out? Didn't give reason what would have caused this?. Need to fit new tyres and wondering to fit Pirelli ATR or GG AT's 255/60/18 use the car for towing caravan and skiing trips some off road, seen post that say some noisier and increase in MPG.? So any advice would be appreciated thanks Craig

Was the car in Tight Tolerence Mode when aligned - I hope so.
Go for GG ATs - great long lasting tyre..

Pirelli ATR's have a less aggressive tread pattern than GG AT's. ATR's are less noisy and give better mpg than AT's. in the US ATR's have a 50,000 miles conditional warranty ( based on my own use with 255 60 18 Pirelli ATR's this mileage is easily achievable).
I've used ATR's in fairly tricky off road conditions such as the Happy Valley and Strada Florida in Wales as well as regular trips to Salisbury Plain. They've never let me down.

Just had 4 Pirelli scorpion zeros fitted. Really pleased with them, quiet and seem to get better mpg, the disco handles really well and they have a decent write up on the net Mods

Hi
I damaged one of my tyres and wanted to be sure if this is true that I need to replace all 4 tyres due to 4 WD? or is it ok to keep 2and buy 2 news tyres only?
The old tyres would be still ok for 2 more winter seasons, but if I need to buy 4 new I think about getting an all season type.
If any advise, experience ..

I have always had pirelli scorpions since new, good road tyre, but not so good off road in Spain as prone to punture, i have certainly never got more than 11,000 to 14,000 miles on a set.
I am going to try Grabber AT's next time as at cica £800 a set the pireli's are expensive for so few miles. Club Narpy Torch

As long as you keep tyres the same across the axle then you should have no problem. The front will wear more due to turning anyway. I am at the same stage of deciding what will be best to buy. All terrains it will be but what?

The Scorpion is a very good road tyre when new ,quiet and refined, but I found they went off quickly and started to tramline badly when worn.....this was on the D3 but so far finding them better on the D4 
Only got roughly 9-10k out of them,which I thought was shocking,so switched to General Grabbers,hoping they'd last longer.
I can report there was a slight increase in road noise,but not much and only between 50-60mph......I did notice my mpg dropped,but was going to offset that against their improved life-span....also found them excellent in the Winter,and snow,which was an added bonus......just my findings,hope it helps "Better to remain silent and be thought a fool,than to speak out and remove all doubt" ?.....what rubbish...

Whatever tyre OP chooses he'll have to get his tracking/alignment issue sorted first or new set will be trashed in pretty short order. Done 30k on my first set of ATRs & they are down to 6mm from 10mm so pretty long lasting, however just relegated my FL to spare as it was wearing badly on inside and getting very droney. Putting spare there sorted that but will get alignment sorted next time it needs bushes replaced.

in my 8 years old car the LR tyre inside completely was gone beside the setting of the wheels/under-cart.
when I went deeper with service it turned out that at the back the bushes are completely gone and need replacement - extremely huge work and cost a lot..
so be careful when you see a side of one tyre gets too fast wearing it might show a signs of the bush problem.

I have seen the Michelin winter tyres on front wheel drive cars here at work...reports are they are pretty good as a winter tyre....I havent tried them for myself...not a low cost tyre
Personally I favour Vredestien Wintracs& have kept them on all year...last se di 35k miles & werent illegal when I changed them.

Brilliant in fields with wet grass (one of the tests of an off road tyre)
...for me not expensive...
...the only downside is sometimes that are hard to get
Scorpions are lethal when you get down to say 4mm...they aquaplane like crazy on even a damp road..not good in a 2.7 tonne Disco....personally I wouldnt accept a new car with these fitted. BREXIT - done properly.

anyone used or experienced Bridgestone Blizzak?
seems Michelin/Bridgestone/Vredestein are more or less same rated by price and qualities.
