Car phone distortion

My car phone distorts with a loud sound when dialling another phone and during some calls. The problem does not occur on each call but can be reproduced every half-dozen calls. The dealership has upgraded software but this has made no difference. If this is a hardware problem, can this be easily rectified ? [/b]
