EPB Warranty Claim - Any Advice |
|
the D4 has now been in the dealers for a week with a seized EPB
LR Assist tried to manually release the cable but couldn't (said it was the stiffest one he'd come across )
The vehicle seemed to be rolling freely however - despite a 'Christmas tree' dash and warning bells - so I was told to drive it to the dealers.
Half way there though you could smell the 'burning' from the R/N/S wheel so I am assuming that the brakes must have been blinding slightly.
The car is under LR extended warranty and the dealer informs me that it should all be covered under the warranty apart from new pads (quoted approx. £185 to fit)
However, as the overall claim will be over £500, then the LR warranty engineer will have to inspect the car and approve the repairs.
This gentleman is calling to the dealers some time on Monday and I am wondering whether to expect good or bad news?
If he says that the work is NOT covered do you have any advice that might persuade them otherwise?? 2000 D2 TD5 - big red tractor no longer with us
2006 D3 - no longer with us and sadly missed
2010 D4 alas no more, but a lovely colour (Nara)
2016 D4 departed
2022 DiscoSport 45mpg, but its not a D4

If the EPB is covered then you should be fine. Is it in the T&Cs that it's covered as party of the list of overhead items? Which LR/Car Care Plan warranty is it? If they are sending out an engineer then chances are it is covered and they just want to verify what's failed & why.
Also if your EPB pads are stuffed unfortunately those are stupidly priced.

RESULT !!!!!
My fears proved unfounded and LR warranty coughed up for the lot including EPB actuator, EPB shoes and new discs!!
I had to pay for the pads but I'll take that.
Well worth taking the transfer of warranty forms over to Bradford in person.
Thanks to Harry at Hatfields LR in Liverpool who made the process go MUCH better than expected
For the record, the bill would have been in the region of £1600
Will have to get used to driving it again after using the open-top defender for the last week 8) 2000 D2 TD5 - big red tractor no longer with us
