Steering wheel controls Harmony or Alpine |
|
Due to fit a aftermarket radio and can connect to original steering wheel controls but need to find out what type I have.
I have a 2009 GS.
Will it be Harmony Low-line or Alpine Symphony High Line.
As I understand they use different resistance levels to control different functions, anyone shed any technical knowledge on the system?

The wheel controls are the same no matter what system you have (so the same resistance values).
However, as you are changing to an aftermarket you must have the low-line system? It's the one at the bottom here: http://www.disco3.co.uk/wiki/Misbadged_Base_7_Seater#Head_units 06 D3 SE / 15 LR D90 XS SW / 88 LR 90 Td5 / 68 BMW 2000 ti

Yes that's the one I have fitted.
Looked at a lot of options but fitting an aftermarket unit is going to be the easiest to gain a lot of higher spec features in one. Rear camera, phone function, sat nav ect and can be easily removed.
Do you know if the factory fitted telephone controls will operate an aftermarket stereo phone function. Im getting a Pioneer AVH-X8500BT.
Ordered the full steering controls today from Nick, here's hoping the cruise control works.
