Hello to all my fellow Discovery 3 owners
I am new to this site having recently sold my beloved Disco 2 and invested in a lovely Disco 3 HSE
BUT I need help
I bought the car from a friend who (apart from towing his caravan across a field) has never used the car off road
So, as a result it is fitted with 20" stormer wheels, which while they look fab, are no good for what I need.
Can anyone advise me on what to replace them with?
I run a First Aid training and event medical company. As such I spend time chasing horse riders and motocross riders over all sorts of terrain as well as racking up motorway miles on the mainland (we live on the Isle of Wight)
What I need is a set of appropriate wheels and tyres to do the job
On my D2 I had BFG AllTerrains fitted
I am looking for a cost effective alternative to the stormers (or alternatively) would be more than happy to do a straight swop with anyone who would like them in exchange for what I need. So in short my ideal situation would be my 5 x 20" stormers with tyres in exchange for 5 all terrains on appropriate wheels (bearing in mind the 5th needs to fit in the carrier.
All advice will be gratefully received
Thanks in advance
Regards
Clive

Welcome Greedy
Go for 17" rims, unless you want to upgrade the brakes to V8 spec, in which case you need 18".
Talk to Andy at site sponsor AJS:-
http://www.ajstyres.co.uk/
he might well be able to point you in the direction of suitable wheeels & will recommend tyres. My personal preference is General Grabber ATs.
Don't forget to fit a spare wheel protector, available from user RLD ("Uncle Ray"):-
http://www.disco3.co.uk/forum/topic31159.h...pare+wheel
It should be easy to sell your old wheels & tyres here.
Good luck.

I'd also have a look at 19" HSE rims fitted with Goodyear MTR's, same as the G4 spec, usually some for sale on the forum or on ebay.... G4OC Secretary

I have 4 17" wheels with 2 Cooper tyres good nick and 2 others, not sure what make or condition and I'm laid up at the moment so I can't even check, the wheels have a bit of 'kerbing' as I remember, I bought them to relace my 18" but then bought some 19" so no longer needed. Looking for £200.00 pus P&P.

Hi,
I have four 18" Eltex star wheels and 7 (seven) General grabber AT2 255/60 R18 for sale if they are of interest ? Five of the tyres are better than 75% and two are probably 60% worn. None of the wheels have been kerbed as far as I can remember (I ran them for about 3 years on my old D3, grip was quite reasonable all year round and they will outlast a set of Pirelli scorpions at least twice if not three times over !) I was gutted when I found out that they won't fit the D4 but, not as upset as I was when an £120 per hour Stratstone technician did manage to fit one in their workshop to my D4 after telling me one of my 20 inch wheels had a punctured/scrap tyre on it ! 200 yards and a funny grinding sound down the road, I was on my way back to the dealer for a few choice words! They subsequently had the wheel repaired/repainted for me and replaced the brake caliper to boot ! (I was carrying the 18 incher as a spare because the D4 came with a skinny.) I only bought four wheels as I always used one of the 19inch wheels as the spare. I live in the west midlands but, do travel the country a fair bit by car, van or lorry. I was looking for £500 for the lot.
