Got car yesterday but can't connect my fault code reader (IIDTool).

Does this socket look okay to anyone in the know.

Should there be something to surround plug 9?

Cheers,

G

There's no top cover as such, mine looks the same as Trackman's above, on the OP's picture though, there is a blue strip showing on one edge and glimpses of it through the pin holes.
It looks to me like the locking strip which holds the connecting pins in place is hanging out, this could prevent the proper location of the connectors and result in loss of connection to the OBD plug.

There are only two Torx screws holding the socket in place, remove the trim above the peddles by undoing two quick thread screws at the front and it lifts out, then undo the torx screws, you'll have to get your head under the dash to see, you can the examin it and check for bent pins etc.
You need a near perfect connection for the Iid tool or you may have problems when flashing Thumbs Up
 It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

I took it out then realised the dealer had fitted a new one when it was in with some clutch slip.

Looks better but should have checked before dismounting it. Bit of a Censored to get it out.

But thanks chaps.

But still looks less pins than everyone else..

Not sure if this is related to being a poverty spec GS but idtool is a bit hit and miss and slow but the guys at Gap are looking into it.
