Cheers Mick, but is that testing the torque converter, or do you reckon that its maybe the oils
Thanks Gary

No that tests the TC - though it is also a function of the oil as the TC slips and causes the plates to burn, affecting the oil, making the slip worse. Judder Is caused by uneven wear on the plates as I understand.

Mark no judder in this thing at all, just a bit of slipping. Contacted my local LR dealer n they have said the oils in the box are due changing at 150k so its right on the money for that n a transfer oil change to so hopefully that that can cure it

@Bodsy (or anyone else who experienced this issue):
When my revs start "wandering" after 3rd gear and up, there is a noise from the transmission (each time the revs drop) that sounds like SHHHHHH. Any idea what it is that's making that noise? Is it harmful?

Thanks

I get that sort of noise occasionally if it sounds like it is coming from the turbo area, but isn't the turbo (Though mines revs don't drop like yours seems to) - I've yet to work out what it is, but I think it is the oil being pumped to the cooler and it is aerated slightly. But is only a guess. Mine is worse when it is locked up, which is odd.

I thought it sounded like something (a chain?) rubbing against the aluminium casing though I believe its related to the transmission issue I'm having and I DONT think there are any chains in there??

A fellow home mechanic also thought it was more like a turbo (air escaping) noise though. I'd love to know more about it.

Hi guys, i also experience this noise. It is hard for my indy to identify where its coming from, because it does not do it in neutral. It will not even do it when vehicle is stationary, and you press the gas and brake together!!!! It does it only when vehicle is moving Confused

I've been there a couple of times - very nice, helpful people actually. That price is fitted BTW - which does require the vehicle to be with them Laughing

Had my megaflush there last summer and IF the buzzing feel/noise at 1900
Turns out to be worst case (torque converter) then it's going back there👍

But the more I'm driving it harder the more I'm convinced it's not as it changes gear so slick
And now it's on a tanks or two of non tescos carp derv, ol YOG is flying along
