My dad has lost his only key fob for his D4. Dealer wants over £600 for new fob and module plus recovery. Does anyone know of any other alternatives? Where would he find someone with the autologic system?

Hi Guys
Hope you can shed some light as am confused. I just bought a Stolen/ Recovered Discovery 4 2009(59) plate from an Auction. It did not come with any keys nor any spare keys. I don't know how my key is supposed to look like as i understand there were two types a brick like chunky one and then later on a slim key fob. my Query is
Do i have to get a replacement at a LR dealer only?
Do i have to have the chunk type or can i get a slim one?
There are genuine LR fobs on ebay which brand new, can i get one of those?
Can an indepenadant Auto Locksmith program the FOB?
Can an independant Auto Locksmith cut a key Blade for my car?
Many question i know but any answers will be much appreciated.
Good Day

having right gear yes the new fob can be coded by independent
blade - i am not sure guess having the key number the blade can be cut
i doubt LR still supplies bigger keys
with slim ones KVM module might need replacement to get them coded
(make sure the old keys had been removed from car memory) [/quote]

Cheers for the info. Much obliged.
So for the "KVM module" replacement and to remove the old keys from car Memory, does that have to be done at the Dealers?
if not would anyone know of a good Auto locksmith?

Thanks for that.
Would you be able to recommend "Person with Know How" if at all allowed on this forum?

Woody07 and Feis
The proceedure and handling of a keyless entry type Discovery 4 vehicle, where, for whatever reasons you have no existing keys at all is something of a security matter that i hope you appreciate that i believe at this time really should not be discussed openly on this forum
I will try to assist with some information and advice, but will do so only by PM.
