Dual Sim
Well after some thought I come up with what I think is my ideal solution to the limited availability of updated phone cradles for the D3’s pti system. In simple terms I’m getting a dual sim from my phone provider. I called them today they said no problem just pop in to their local store and all would be sorted. So all I have to do is leave my 6230i in the cradle in the D3 and activate / deactivate as to what ever phone I’m using.
The down side is that the GPRS service is disabled so no picture messaging or web
I thought about that too, but then you will have two phones each with its own copy of your address book. So you have to synchronize your address books regularly, which is a hassle (if it can be done between the two different types/brands of phones at all...). How are you handling that?
I am still looking for a good compact smart phone that will work in the D3, but for now I am sticking to the (limited) bluetooth connection 2006 Zermatt Silver TDV6 'SE' Auto, Mantec sump guard, Frontrunner roofrack, Lightforce 140s, split charge system and... a Jetboil.

Right phone call tomorrow I asked Vodafone a few months ago for dual sims. they said they had no intention of providing dual sims.In the Beginning there was nothing, which exploded.

I took a similar approach a few months ago, but haven't been overly impressed so far (though I am with Orange)
The problems I have found is which phone you make the master, as the master is the only I that you can get sms's on (and that includes the voicemail notifys)
Firstly I thought car phone to be the master, i.e. it would only be powered when the car was on (not true you need to remember to turn the phone on and off) but then my 'portable phone' loses the sms/GPRS/voicemail capability - not viable given my work.
So Car phone becomes the second sim, but then you need to remember to turn the main phone off when your in the car, and then you won't get any notification about sms or voicemail..... and every chance that as you leave the car you forget to turn the portable back on!
My head hurts just thinking about this!!!
My current situation is i use one phone at the moment and the Bluetooth works ok, but no phone book so can't easily/safely pick numbers to call from the phones contacts.
my 2p...
as a side issue, I fitted the wifes Laguna with a Sony Ericsson Bluetooth HCB-700 (or something like that) which has voice recognition and phone book download - £80 and the voice control is far better than the Disco I imagine the parrots are like that too...Richard......
2006 HSE Lugano Teal - with screens a DVD....PS2.... Freeview, and MANTEC plate!
2007 XS Commercial Java Black - with leather, Aux Battery and MANTEC plate

The same one as a 6230 plenty on ebay from time to time
Ah cheers Ken, wouldn't work so well for me as Mrs H drives the car a lot so she would have no car phone.
Have to stick with what I have done then Zermatt silver 06 reg.
I've done it differently. I have 2 phones on one price plan that have free calls between them. My main phone diverts calls to the phone in the car if not answered and if the phone is not answered in the car the calls are then diverted to the main phones voicemail.Loving the power of the TDV8!
