Fridge electrics

Had my doubts about the fridge working whilst towing with the Disco, but now that I have a different van I can see that he fridge doesn't work.

Checked for 12v between 10 and 11 and nothing showing. Ellectrics fitted by dealer.

Any ideas gratefully received.

Took vehicle into Hunters at Bilsborrow (not original supplier) and they have sorted the electrics out. No relay fitted!

As it was not a failure (and thus warranty) I have to pay £118 to them and try and claim it back from Stratstones of Bury for their total ineptitude!

I cannot believe that a Land Rover dealer could commit such a schoolboy error in fitting a tow bar!

If anyone else has had a tow bar fitted there then check whether you are getting a power supply to your fridge, as arriving on site with no ice for the G&Ts is certainly no laughing matter.

Joking apart, I have my doubts!
Having had removable tow bars on many a car I was surprised that I was not offered a bag to keep the tow ball in when removed. I kept my old one but not too sure what I should have been given for storage. I also had to ask about the red cover that fits in the tow bracket socket and was informed that there wasn't one but 'I managed to get one from another car'.

Looking back it sounds a bit dodgy!

I cannot see any reference to fitting a relay when fitting either of the Land Rover towbar wiring kits.

The fitting to store the detachable tow bar is a separate accessory and is not included in the tow bar "kit".

My car came with the red plastic plug in the tow bar socket but I lost it after a couple of years. I bought a new one but it disappeared in a few days. I assume that it just fell out and was not nicked by another Discovery driver you had lost his!

Just to clarify the point, it was the salesman who managed to get me the plastic bit from another vehicle.

At Hunters it was mentioned that the relay should have been fitted as it comes with the kit.

@DaveS - The proper LR kit is 'plug n play' with all the necessary bits included - hence my comment. The instructions do not refer to a relay because, if it was fitted as a kit, it wouldn't need to Whistle
