Please can anyone point me to a link describing how to strip down the number plate light that houses the switch that opens the top tail gate. I need to replace the switch. Ive got the handle/light assembly off just need to strip it down.
Thanks Paul

It's easy. 2 screws in the handles on inner upper door trim. Grab trim and pull firmly. Line of bolts that I think are 13mm. Seems to remember an electrical connector. A couple of the captive nuts were broken so had to grip the remaining bit with pliers whilst unscrewed.
Dead easy. 20 minutes first time you do it including getting the socket set out and putting it away.
Once the inner trim is off it all makes sense.

If you grip the rubber seal below it will come off and you can wobble the paddle and get to the microswitch. I was doing that whilst waiting for a new handle to be delivered.

the switch/release hadle is a push fit with 2 plastic tabs (1 each side) that just spring out to hold it in. I broke one off mine getting it out at the weekend. Take the rubber boot off (just pulls off), and try a small blade screwdriver in each side. Also, refit the rubber BEFORE refitting the switch handle into the main handle body.

Not sure how easy these are to do...my Indy said they got so sick of switches breaking that they just recommend the whole handle be replaced.....they even tried modifying the RRS one to fit,but that was a pain also.. As an aside,if you fancy doing the rear camera at some point in the future, get one of the newer ones, which have the cutout already done, and covered with a blanking plate "Better to remain silent and be thought a fool, than to speak out and remove all doubt" ?.....what rubbish...

Good point...Duckworths have 2 listed..."tailgate handle" and "upper tailgate handle".....with the cost difference £20+vat v £62+vat I'd guess the first one doesn't come with the switch....worth giving Dan at Duckworths a shout and check before ordering "Better to remain silent and be thought a fool, than to speak out and remove all doubt" ?.....what rubbish...
