Depends on the sort of site you like, of course, but we've spent many a bank holiday in the "holiday park" atmosphere of Park Foot Caravan and Camp site in Pooley Bridge on Lake Ullswater near Penrith.
It has a nice blend of beautiful scenery, a pleasant wee walk into town, and a disco in the clubhouse every night. Loos/showers etc are great and thoroughly pressure-washed daily, and the on site shop is very well equiped, like a mini Go Outdoors if you forget something.

Great Langdale NT site in The Lakes. This is a site open all year with decent facilities and the bet bit is there are 3 pubs within a 5-10 minute walk. Great views along the Langdale valley to.
Best get someone else to put the tent up for you though by the sound of things.
