Alternative DE-CAT method
Hi,
as I am too far from Allisport solutions and D3 of mine is 168 k/km and 6 years old:
I'd went to exhaust service to detach the cat pipe and to weld inside the opened cat housing perforated pipe. Like organizing a fire extinguisher inside the empty cat housing. I did it with two previous gas cars. That is cost-effective solution for hi mileage cars with broken or suspected to be broken cats.
So while detaching we'd made one of the hex nuts at turbo round . Even with a lot of WD-40. It was rusty. I hurried and decided not to fight. And it was risky to broke the pin at turbo housing. I told them not now .
We'd went alternative way ( like Russian astronaut doing in Armageddon movie, you know ). Actually not only. I saw here the link to the same French method.

opened

empty ( the contained active cat mass was a little bit fused and deformed from the turbo side. So it was in time and cat mass was about to be broken)

Than it had been welded back.
No extra sound at all. Might be more turbo whistle. Better throttle response, less turbo lag. I am Okey with the result.
Service people told me that there could be slightly less lifetime of the center muffler but I do not care. Can be easy change to custom ones.
PS. We welded directly at the place. Battery wires were disconnected.WBR

hi,
No extra sound or noise even under load. Just more cheerful turbo whistle
I did not saw smoking in rear mirror ..... no before and no after. And I did not saw smoke from outside when I followed my wife driving disco. Might be a little bit more exhaust smell.WBR

The shipping was one point. The next point was challenge to unscrew one nut at turbo side and shortage of the time.
So for sure that is roundabout solution. But that is working well. Just let you know.
PS. I paid about 100 euro for all. But that is because I am in Moscow. Very expensive city. My club mate in regional city made the same procedure for 25 euro WBR

Eco Nazis here can fine you $25,000 for removing a CAT. “There are only three sports: bullfighting, motor racing, and mountaineering; all the rest are merely gamesâ€
