Faultmate MSV-2 +BAS Map or 2nd-hand BAS Interface +BAS map?

Hi All

I'm trying to understand my options here and as the subject says, I don't know which to go for.

The cost of the remap file from Pete is £150 - a good deal I'm sure given the feedback I've read.

The cost of a 2nd-hand interface is about £250

So that's £400 all in.

I also have a mate down the road who'd also like to remap his Disco and I know a BAS interface is tied to a single car. What I was wondering is whether it would be cheaper to buy a single Faultmate and two remaps from Pete. Can a faultmate be used on two cars in this manner?

Any advice is much appreciated.

Talk to Geoff. Thumbs Up

A Faultmate MSV2 is also tied to a single car so if you wanted to use the MSV2 on two cars you would need a multi-vehicle license. So, your man maths Laughing is a little out, I'm afraid.

Like I say, talk to Geoff. Thumbs Up

Thanks folks. I was just hoping there might be a licencing option where you could licence two Disco 3's rather than have to buy the full multi or all Disco licence.

You've got to ask right? Thanks for confirming.

Sorry - another question

So am I right in thinking the Faultmate MSV-2 Vehicle Server EXTREME version with VCI 1 for a single VIN is £248 inc VAT and that I can use it to read and write the ECU on my own Disco?
If so, it seems a much better deal than a BAS interface as it is much more powerful in terms of what it can read.

Nope, just over £800 for the Extreme with the necessary kit to work on a single D3.

You need this Discovery 3 / LR3 Single Vehicle kit with EXTREME Vehicle Server from here https://blackbox-solutions.com/shop/ which is £825.35 (incl. VAT)

Either that or I don't understand what you need.

The BAS interface certainly does sound like a very good investment from the posts about it on here. Although I have no experience of it myself, there are many much more knowledgeable peeps on here who swear by it. Thumbs Up
