urgent help - middle of english channel |
|
Guys - help please
I'm on the ferry to France, and as I drove onboard, amber suspension warning light came on, suspension lowered, special programs off. Towed tin tent down from Brum to Portsmouth with no problems. Hoping in 5hrs time when we get off it might have cleared. If not, any ideas as to what I should be looking at to fix it. I'm supposed to be driving to the dordoigne in the morning.
Cheers
Al

When it happened to mine it was the feed to the brake light switch, apparently there's a joint bid away that can corrode . But also I believe could just be a bulb blown somewhere,
Hope it's sorted itself after a sleep,
Enjoy ya Hols

Another thought;
At my brothers wedding a few years back went over a bump in the road with 7 people on board and the light came on and the car lowered.
Turned out the air dryer unit on the air compressor had popped.
Tell tale signs will be no raising of the suspension and alot of silica gel balls all over the floor.
Hope it isn't that! All things shipping, storage, transport. UK and worldwide.

Cheers for the first responses. If it is the brake light switch, what am I looking for, and what's the fix?. If its the air dryer unit' bits would be somewhere on the loading ramp in Portsmouth
Ah well, a glass of red becons, and see what happens at disembark time.

Rather than doom and gloom I'm hoping for you that it was just the computer's reaction to the odd angles the vehicle sustains on a ferry ramp. A vaccine does not stop you catching a virus, or passing it on, or getting ill from it, really ill. It does reduce the likelyhood of you dying when really, really ill. It's a bleeding 4x4, it's supposed to go at funny angles and it ain't exactly an off road course

Well at least none of you said check for water ingress, given I'd said where I was
Bulb check later then.

I was thinking the same, odd angles on a ferry ramp! Some 4x4 this I own can't even handle a ferry ramp without throwing a wobbler.

Fingers crossed it sorts itself out.

It's really easy to replace. (Subject you getting the part).
Brake bulbs would be the thing to check first though.

Sorry for the delay in replying, no tinterweb access. Well no bulbs blown, and fault gone on startup. Towed the 390 miles down here all OK. Must have been a hissy fit about coming to France. Fingers crossed it behaves itself now its here.
Thanks for the advice chaps, as always, much appreciated.
