Hi I know this has been covered to death but the search brings up quite a bit of old info. I was edging towards the blackvue because it seems popular on here but the googled reviews seem to suggest there are reliability issues with them ( overheating etc). A couple of alternatives that keep cropping up are Finevu and ITronics which have decent reviews.

Would like to get something around the £100 mark but I think I might need to be upping that to £150.

Anybody used the alternatives or had issues with blackvue. I don't really like the ones with the screens attached as they tend to be too big and not very stealth. The blackvue is appealing due to its side mount camera. It's the right size and shape to sit next to the centre speaker.

De-Tangoed
Clear indicators
D4 rear lights
Sat Nav with D4 surround
Flip down DVD player
Blackvue
Side steps
3rd row headphone/switches
Debadge

I have 5 blackvues, 380's 400' v1 and v2 and a 500, the 400 v1 reboots occasionally on a hot day but the others have been faultless. My favourite is the 380, cheap covert small Black and great image. Don't like the 500 (too wide)

Pretty reliable in my opinion Thumbs Up

I have the Livue LB100 HD

It records in 720P only but for the price it's hard to beat and I can still read number plates up to around 15-20m away while moving (more while stopped)

I've gone with Blackvue 380 HD.

I think I'm right in saying that you cannot turn the unit off once you have switched the ignition on. Surely there are times when you would like to not have your blackvue recording your journey Whistle

Have any of you fitted a switch to disable your BV if needed. I'm thinking of a momentary switch that kills power to the BV but then reverts to auto start on the next journey. ( so you don't need to remember to switch it back on)

Hi
i have just changed from a Blackvue DR400 (i think) all singing all dancing, as on hot days i kept getting error messsage to check the SD card. also, the position interfeared with the headlamp sensor.
i now have a finevu cr500hd, smaller, not so noticable from the front, downside is no built-in GPS or wifi. have order the GPS unit, as i like the idea of speed and position info being shown. haveing used both, the finevu gets my vote. the blackvue is now with my dad.

Keith
 Cheers
