Adding luxury stitched leather to the cubby box lid!
Thought I´d make a little guide on how to freshen up the interior a little with applying stitched leather to the cubby box lid. The original lid is covered with vinyl, in which I thought looked a little bit cheap, so I got a new leather piece from here:
Tools required:
- appropriate torx screw driver
- Regular spray glue
- Alcohol or red spirit
- Exacto knife
- A pair (or two) of steady hands
-First, open your cubby box lid and undo the 8 torx screws securing the top to the lid itself. Then snap off the top cover.

-Then wipe off the entire cover with alcohol, red spirit or similar to remove residue. Put it on a suitable place to apply the spray glue (this can be a little messy)

-Apply the spray glue to both the center section of the cubby box top, and the leather piece.

- Use your pair of hands (or two) to align the center of the leather piece on the top of the cover, and apply it gently. Rub the leather to remove any air bubbles ect.

- Spray the sides of the leather and cover, and glue it together.

- Spray the edges with glue and wrap them under the cover. Note that you will have to make a few cuts to be able to stretch it properly around the corners. You also need to trim off the excess leather.

- Make sure you don´t cut too far. I cut a bit too far here, but fortunately it wasn´t really visible once in place.

Note that you can probably use different types of glue, would be better to use some glue that allows you to move the leather around a bit before it settles. I was just lucky to get it in the right place the first time
Put it back in reverse order.
Here is what the result looks like. I think it looks pretty neat 8) It blends better in with the seats, and is also softer to the touch. Good luck, it´s a cheap mod

I had a set from the same seller for my D1. They look pretty good, and decent quality for the price.

Very nice - you do only get one hit with that contact glue though! I might be inclined to use something that let the leather swim around a little before it went off.
Looks lovely though

Thanks for the comments everyone
Good luck with the project devonchilliman, I think I would reccomend you to use another glue than spray glue, or just apply spray glue to one side. That should make you able to move it a little bit around before it attatches

Presumably the D3 is the same as D4?
