Another question does the D4 radio support DAB+ (HE-AAC), and is it enabled in UK vehicles?

Yes the 2013MY features the new DAB+ & DVB+ modules....I've travelled up and down the country in and out of cities and to the remotest parts of Pembrokeshire and with very little dropout at all...it's only really the crossover points that I have noticed. 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

I found out about the 3 pre-sets by mistake - I'd either touched something incorrectly or the system was throwing a wobbler - driving up the M5 one day - zero reception, changed the pre-set - hey presto.
Never need to touch it since (apart from when I did mess it up)
TBH only ever usually listen to R5 or Absolute 80's at the weekend, but when up in the Lakes, will lose reception, drive a mile further down the road, back it comes - but never mess with the pre-sets - just let it do its own thing

Thanks DG that's something.
I haven't used DAB+ or DVB+ in a vehicle.
Hopefully someday the UK will offer DAB+ which may resolve some of the issues that many of us experience with DAB.
I am sure that one of the problems is that most stations using a bit rate of 128 kbit/s or less, if they used 160 kbit/s or more DAB might achieve perceived FM quality.

DAB in the D4 may not be perfect, but a lot easier to use than the VW one in SWMBO's Polo.
Big improvement over radio in D3 IMO - removed need to listen to R5 on MW

Using DAB+ here, and have to say the sound quality is excellent. Reception is also good around town, although it does cut out when I drive under the harbour.
Is there hardware difference between DAB and DAB+, as we never had DAB?

the journey from Cairnryan to West Yorks in my XK (with SWMBO following in the Disco)
I m changing my mind about DAB....it did very well on this trip which you usually lose radio in the Lakes near the Howgills
this time played right through with good stereo & sound quality....no interference
Maybe re tuning the whole thing worked... BREXIT - done properly.

D3 HSE-perfectly formed, passenger friendly...has real DIPSTICK
Jag XK-but sadly no DIPSTICK...HUGE design fault
FL2 has DIPSTICK..."real comfort in rear seats"
VW Golf wondermobile (?)..has real DIPSTICK
Morris Minor..original DIPSTICK technology..and a real KEY.

Sorry to resurrect an old thread... but I've started to notice you're absolutely right tboner!
The Road Angel Gem does effect the DAB radio reception quite a bit when the signal is low. I realised it's got a sim in it for automatic updates over the GSM network, but I thought it would only be using that periodically on demand. Apart from that, it shouldn't be radiating anything? I thought it's just a Sat-Nav type receiver with an internal database?
Bit of a pain really, as I love the GEM apart from this

I do have 1 issue that I just can't work out or fix. It is an issue with DAB reception.
I live in central London, so coverage should not be an issue. Also the problem happens on all the preset channels I have set.
Has anyone else experienced this.
Hi Kvt, I have the exact same problem with DAB and also live in London. I note that you got it sorted by changing the presets over on to another "series"....At the mo, I think mine are on 1, so will try 2 and 3 and see if that helps. Is it all still working ok for you?

i have latest road angel and totally screws up the DAB
Sorry to resurrect an old thread again... but just to help anyone else that's having DAB reception problems... I've now discovered it's the cig-lighter to USB adaptor provided by RoadAngel that's severely affecting the DAB reception in our cars. In fact, most of the cheaper in car 5v USB adaptors will do the same. There may be many people who think their DAB radio is rubbish and don't realise it's caused by something as innocuous as a power lead.
For registered RoadAngel GEM users, just give them a ring and they'll send you a free replacement lead/adaptor which doesn't wipe out the DAB - sorted.
