warning bong but no sign of what |
|
Driving in slippery mud 6 inches deep( no hard base) up hill in normal road drive mode and the dreaded bong goes off several times..... but no matching warning light or indication of what the vehicle was trying to tell me... I know I am leaving myself open here (BN) but anyone know what it may have been... Out of the mud and all was well. Near enough 40 degrees South!!!

Nick could be correct. It could be telling you that DSC is not switched off, but I have not tried it, because any mud work, I switched it off automatically. On the Sunday funday, I deliberately went around the whole course with DSC engaged to see how the car performed, but heard nothing.
On the other hand, if a bong goes when playing in mud, I really don't think I want to know that

Interesting thing is that it bongs away and gives no clue (via warning lights etc), as to what it is wanting you to do.... Near enough 40 degrees South!!!

I am not sure the answer is correct, but at this time, it is only logical answer. Unless it is a height sound, you were not getting into extended mode where you.

Is it the front PDC sound if you have them fitted? This is constantly going off when off roading and gives no dash warnings.

Mine bongs evey once and awhile with no visual confirmation as to what the bong is for. No front PDC, and the rear PDC sounds very different from the standard bong.

When I came out of the long lake run at Billing, the ground was very slippery. As I accelerated the thing did bong, and I got a brief "Off Road Height Selected" message. I think it could possibly be the system briefly going to extended mode, then changing its mind and returning to Off Road height.
I did not have the DSC switched off.
The PDC "Beep" is very distiguishable from the message centre "Bong"
I'm not sure if you can hear it on my in car video that I posted, Ill go and have a look.

ok comedians and others.... The front proximity warnings were not an issue. I have them and they do go off so I was aware of that one. I COULD see through my winscreen despite the fuse blowing (smart ) . Ha !!
I think the most likely was DSC.... but not sure. The BOOK does not really do anything except cover LRs backside in case of a lawsuit.... it does not really tell us how things all work and so here we are... Near enough 40 degrees South!!!

Mine has started bonging for no obvious reason. It's done it twice in the last 24hrs, when I have been pulling out at a junction. There's no visual indication, and I've had the car 3 months with no bongs......until yesterday
Somethings up, I think.
