Front tyres getting scrubbed |
|
Bought my D4 XS 3 months back from main LR dealer as a select vehicle. Comes with a LR 12month warranty. My question chaps is: will the warranty cover the alignment of the steering? As its taken the outside tread off the tyres with around 1000 miles done. It's in at the dealers today and they've already mentioned £160 to realigned and balance. Is this a reasonable price and would this not be covered?
Cheers

Guess you would need to prove it was like that when they sold it to get them to cover it ...tricky that one!
The £160 is a bit steep tho ....I paid 60 for a full wheel alignment
WWW.alignmycar.co.uk will give you your nearest place that has the kit capable of doing it.....not sure why they are wanting to rebalance all the wheels unless you have vibration too....the two are not necessarily linked Cheers Ian

I think that is a reasonable price for a Main Dealer. It may be a good idea to ring them right now and say you want the print from the alignment machine, this will tell you how much it was out.

Update
Dealers just told me from visually looking at the car, it's just the tyres that are wearing and no tracking issues. Asked them if they have had the car on the tracking machine. No sir that we don't do here, it's another company and is £140. Their advise is to get 4 new tyres and then have them balanced and tracking done. Kerching!
I feel like I'm being mugged, a LR dealer who don't do there own vehicle alignment. Think there going to be loosing any repeat business, for ever.
Cheers for replies. Are dealers usually like this?

My car had uneven wear from new. I got the alignment checked and it was way off. Apparently though, it's only covered under warranty before the first service, after that it's wear and tear.

I know a lot of dealers dont have the kit so use a specialist ...hence you are paying for their time to take it there
If you have any concerns.. I would get it checked yourself before you even think about any new tyres Cheers Ian
