Trailer Test to gain B+E

As I passed my after driving test after 1st Jan 1997 I am only able to drive vehicles up to 3.5 tonnes (category B) with a 750kg trailer (4.25 tonnes total MAM). When I get my Disco 3 in March this will cause me a bit of an issue as a car on a flat bed trailer with a disco 3 is well over this limit. (don’t you love the DSA)

Firstly can anybody recommend a trailer training centre in Surrey?
Secondary has anybody taken the B+E test and provide any guidance? i.e do I need to go on a course if I can already tow?

Thanks in advance for you help?

trailer

You will need to do the course simply to learn how to pass the test! ASll a load of B******s which will drive you mad . I put one of our boys through it and he has been using farm trailers since he was 12 but he found the course total crap . Good luck and say goodbye to £500 !

trailer test

Had the same experience here, put one of our guys through and all the course does is brush up your driving skills to get you through the test, its not just the trailer they look at it, its howyou drive the truck too, back to the old mirros signal manouver game. backing the trailer was second nature.

I didn't realise this little fact from that website...

TrailerTrainingUK Website wrote:
All drivers who passed a car test before 1 January 1997 retain their existing entitlement to tow trailers until their licence expires. This means they are generally entitled to drive a vehicle and trailer combination up to 8.25 tonnes MAM. They also have entitlement to drive a minibus with a trailer over 750kgs MAM.
As I passed my test in 1983 I'm good for 8 1/4 tonnes total (IF I had a towbar fitted) Rolling with laughter Steve N | 21MY Defender | 08MY Discovery 3 (history) | 06MY Discovery 3 (ancient history)

I got my "E" a few moths ago. I had to do the theoretical test identical as all novice drivers (which is not evident here for a routine driver cause they have many questions on administrative formalities, technical details, duties and terms towards the authorities etc), do driving with an instructor (it is hard to drive 100% egally for a routine driver) and do the road test.

They warned me that if I failed the theoretical test, I would have to hand in my driving licence and go home by bus Laughing

They did not know I still have my belgian driving licence.... but i didn't need to use it.

Good luck,

Same problem in Holland.... B for car with "no" trailer, if 3500kg + 3500kg on the hook, get the €500,- E licence.

Welcome in Europe ! Same B Censored for all.
