I did mine last Sunday. Take it slow and easy. The front ones are totally fool-proof.
The rear ones are not. As it says in the instructions - do use masking tape and a pencil to mark the heights of them against the bodywork. And as for the drilling through the bodywork (behind the lights, so not visible) ... use a hole punch to make a small dint in the metal where you're going to drill - it reduces the chances of the drill bit skating across the paintwork - I didn't use a 7mm hole as suggested because I felt the plastic lugs were stupid and a bit risky for dropping through into inside the bodywork. I worked up from 2 - 3 - 4 mm until the little screwbolts thread caught into the hole edge then copious amounts of silicon to keep out moisture and tighten the screwbolts up pulling the back plate up against the body and squeezing the silicon out round the sides to ensure a goo waterproof fit.Steve N | 21MY Defender | 08MY Discovery 3 (history) | 06MY Discovery 3 (ancient history)

What type of 'goo' did you use Steve? 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

on the rear ... just watch the clearances between the brackets and the tailgate.
[mine were a bit neat and chaffed slightly ... but then I did get mine 'used' off e-bay....... always on the road less travelled 🚧

Coward - TBH I reckon they'd stay on without the drilling - the backplate forms a great big hook around the leading edge of the rear light cluster - I guess you'd just get a little rubbing and the rear guard might go out of shape - its basically a very large rectangle of thinnish plastic which you can skew upto half an inch without much effort.Steve N | 21MY Defender | 08MY Discovery 3 (history) | 06MY Discovery 3 (ancient history)

It is NOT! It's made out of pure Disconium, the toughest substance known to man. Now take that back!
I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.
