Thanks to all who supported us on the Mac4x4 Challenge 2013, we raised £2500 for Macmillan Cancer Support!
Was great to see some D3's getting muddy!
We'll be going again next year too!

So, where did you all end up going to?
I may do it again next year.

Started at Craven Arms (Britpart) headed down through the Brecons to Knighton, down into Clyro and Hay on Wye for the 1st nights stop.
2nd day into Beacons, Cantref & Penderyn reservoirs, over to a massive inland wind farm, then up through Snowdonia National Park into the Elan Valley and along the resevoirs, through Devils Bridge, up to Aberystwyth for the 2nd over night stop.
3rd day out across the mountains through lots of welsh sounding name places ending up at Bala lakes, and the finish in Rhugg. Once the event was finished we had a leisurely drive from Rhugg to the hotel.
All in all about 750 miles (home to home), was fabulous weather, great scenery and some cracking cameraderie.......
Well worth getting invloved as any road going vehicle can compete, non of the sections was particulaly taxing. there were quite a few standard D3's, RR Sport and Vogues in the entry list as well as a Fiat Panda 4x4 on road tyres!
Though the routes do vary from year to year so what we did this year is no guarantee it will be the same next year.... G4OC Secretary

I've already done it twice now. 2010, and 2011. The route this year seems very similar to the routes we did in 2010, it was great and included a run around the sweet lamb rally centre.
2011 was very good, we ended up in Cong on the West Coast of Eire!

This year was a good one, especially the section around the wind turbines
Looks like next year might be a bit special as we should go over the £1million raised for Macmillan via the Mac4x4.
Didn't get to speak to DutryDisco, though we did meet at Brighton on the L2B run D3 HSE

Unnecessary quote removed
That Wind Turbine section was awesome, as was the drive through the Elan Valley!
You must have chatted to MrsDD at the L2B in Brighton then, did she try and sell you a Mac4x4 Wristband? G4OC Secretary

Some great pics there!
I think we may have camped in the same field behind the hotel as in your 2010 pics......dont think they knew what hit them, 120+ offroaders descending on the bar to get warm!
There is also a dedicated facebook page for the mac4x4 now, just search on the facebook site I am sure you will find it, Loads of great pics from this years event. G4OC Secretary

Yes the football field on the outskirts of Aberystwyth. It was really cold when we were there, dropped to minus 7 and there is a pic of me sat in the cab with my petrol lantern keeping us warm.

As it was my navigator's birthday (2nd time on the Mac!) so we bailed on camping in aber and found a very nice country house hotel with a superb restaurant, and ended up with a huge suite for £70.
So who's up for it next year?

It was my first time this year - loved it, even though it was cold enough at night to create snotsicles on the end of my nose when trying to sleep in a tent - will be there next year for the £1M event

We did it and we loved it again.
Defo doing the £million event next year! If you aren't living life on the edge, you're taking up too much space!!
