Had my D3 four years in July, it will be 8 years old in October I've never had a warranty.

My D3 was faultless.
If you had asked me this question 12 months ago, I'd have said there's no need of a warranty. Better just to save the cash in case a problem comes up. 12 months ago I had a 2009 D4 marching past 50k miles with nothing more than a dodgy fuel guage to report! I was impressed.
However, in the last 3 months of my old D4's warranty, we had turbo issues, a transfer box problem and a rear diff leaking oil. All sorted under warranty. But imagine if that had been 3 months later ... I dread to think.
I just ordered a new car instead but if you are intent on keeping a D3/4 long term, I'd get a warranty. Cos when they go wrong they really aren't wallet friendly
Get a warranty- I have no experience on here of aftermarket warranties, I usually just buy a new car. But people will know the best ones to grt good luck. 2023 Ineos Grenadier 3.0 Diesel Commercial

From those of you that know - would you recommend Warranty Direct or Land Rover Extended? Mine will be off the standard dealer warranty I got when I bought it from LR dealer in April so now need to decide the route going forward.

I almost went with WD but basically their admin was crap and the overriding feel I had for them reminded me of a dodgy car dealer ..so I pulled out. I ended up with LR on my old MY09 because my dealer said he could get anything through it like the 3 year OEM warranty and I could extend Assistance .....I slept very well ...though never had an opportunity to put them to the test because nothing went wrong 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021
