Sprinter jack is fine at getting it up in the air ( I have one too!) but would strongly recommend some decent (6ton) axle stands for doing any work. You dont want to leave it on a bottle jack for any longer than needed .

Brakes are an easy job to do and Bodsy's brake bible gives you a step by step guide Thumbs Up
D4 brakes are just a bit bigger than D3 at front ...

Most DIY jobs have enough info on here to see you through and always someone to point you in right direction when you get stuck Thumbs Up
 Cheers Ian

Get some decent axle stands, she can dance about a bit when up in the air!

A decent recovery strap and some shackles because you MUST get her dirty.

A tow rope, so you can pull people out the way, up hills and through floods when this great british weather stumps the nation... again!!!

Dont worry about all the negative comments people have posted (they are right) but if you worry, you wont enjoy it. Just have the RAC/AA on speed dial and then go find some mud to play in!!!

Ok so in the end i ordered the 170piece toolset from halfords (it was half price from £250) a tax disk holder Very Happy and some copper grease. At the moment my disco squeaks when braking and a friend of mine advised me to purchase this copper grease... he failed however to give me instruction on how best to use it.

Briss

p.s how difficult/expensive is it to retro fit a towbar?

Colgate? What is this wizardry?
Do i just apply it to the 'disk' part of the brakes?

Towbars are plug and play.. thet just plug into the receiver under the rear bumper (usually a red plug in there)

You can buy an electrics kit from Nick (aka 'the large one') and fit it yourself (just plugs in behind rear off side light. On a D4 it needs to be activated tho, so you need someone with a faultmate or similar to do that for you.

lots lots cheaper than a dealer doing it Thumbs Up

There's a simple removable one for occasional use

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/discovery-3-4-de...4d0a02a021

But if you intend to do much towing get the fixed, heavy duty multi hight.

Thumbs Up
