Disco 3 Stereo

Hi there...

As a girly on here please excuse my very basic terminology...

OK, I have AND LOVE (girly bit) my disco 3 its on 06 SE model with the sat nag oops nav, its also has the buttons for the phone but my phone wont work with it as it does not have blue tooth. So 2 things how do I get it to be blue toothed and also can I buy something to stick in the back of the stereo so I can then connect my ipod to it....

Thats all

Thanks

Sx Very Happy

you can fit ( or get somebody to) the LR bluetooth ...its not realy a kit ..but the parts are available and then it needs enabling .

the ipod ...you need a LR ACM kit ( audio connectivity ) ..this will allow control of the ipod via the steering wheel buttons

Hi and Welcome!

I just added Bluetooth to mine using a Bluetooth module from a Discovery 4, a microphone, a special optic fibre cable from another member "Wiggs", some switches on the steering wheel, and enablement via Geoff's computermabob. Works great with my iPhone.

It costs about £300 to do but is nice and transparent in the car unlike the aftermarket Parrot kits out there. Once done, your phone buttons on the radio will work! Thumbs Up

With regards iPod connectivity, Land Rover sell an Audio Connectivity Module (ACM) but that is also about £300.

There are cheaper ways of doing it by connecting (soldering) an iPod dock cable to a redundant connection block behind the front passenger kick plate. The LR ACM kit enables you to change track via the steering wheel controls. The other method doesn't.

Your SE also probably has an AUX in socket at the very back of the centre console (in front of the row 2 seats behind a little flap below the air vents) where you can connect your iPod via a jack plug. You will probably find the volume is a bit quiet, though, as this is using the headphone out on your iPod rather than Line Out via the dock connector.

Hope this helps,

Steve

Thanks Garym2000.... Smile

Wiggs regarding the LR ACM thingy where would I get one of those from... oh and the kt for the blue tooth.

Do you have to get them directly from LR. my mechanic is LR approved but I would imagine the cost is well high? oh and enabling that sounds expensive... Big Cry

Thank you for the info too...

Woolmeister...

Yeah I have had and aux cable from halford plugged into the little socket thing behind the fridge by the air vent n heater seat buttons but the volume is RUBBISH... I shall have a look round for a ACM and then see about getting it fitted...

As for the LR phone thing, if I buy it from LR do I still have to enable it with you WIGGS.... looked a bit complicated to me and I have an iphone so it has to work with that or there's no point... Rolling with laughter

Cheers guys...

You need to have the volume turned up max on your phone I have found when using the AUX socket.

Part number for the LR ACM kit is VPLFE0002. Last time I asked TLO for a price it was around £260 I think (including forum discount). You will then need to fit it (stereo out job).

Good news re the steering wheel buttons for the phone. That means you may already have BT. Can your iPhone Bluetooth see anything that looks remotely like a Land Rover or Ford connection point?

I'm not sure what the pair code is for older kits. Wiggs will be along in a mo - he's the expert. Thumbs Up

If you have phone buttons on the steering wheel there is a fair chance you have Bluetooth

You need to go into settings / general / Bluetooth on your phone and search in your car while ignition is on

Ur looking for ford audio / hands free or Land rover

Pair with either 2121 or 0000 ( if its the basic aftermarket kit )

Shocked

@ Saddletramp

Yes, that part may also work on a Freelander Whistle
Best to check with Nick (TLO) that this is the most current and up-to-date ACM kit for your Discovery 3. It was last time I checked.

Might be worth checking you don't already have the ACM though, first? Check in your upper glove box for a black box with connections on and cables coming out.

TLO is The Large One. Or Nick, if you prefer. Parts Manager at Yeovil Land Rover, purveyor of all Land Rover parts and exceptional customer service. Comes highly recommended if it's parts you're after. Thumbs Up
