What's this thing flopping about under my bonnet?

Anyone know what this is resting on the engine cover, I can't see anywhere obvious that it should go and have no idea what it is.

Thanks Andrew

Plug for the transit relay and on some cars it is possible to clip it against the black FBH support bracket to keep it out of the way.

Thanks Robbie, I was wondering if it should have been connected somewhere.

It is only connected on its journey from the factory to first dealer and the relay is removed (at the latest) on the pre-delivery inspection.

Not convinced. The transit relay connector is under the battery cover, near the negative terminal Confused

EDIT: And the blanking plug is part of a plastic bit taped onto the loom too

Shocked Rolling with laughter

I'm colour blind so whenever I do any wiring the OH needs to be in earshot waiting for the cry of "what Censored colour is this wire"? Rolling with laughter

It's actually Colin's bedside table but for the discerning eye it looks to be a loom for a left-hand drive.

It cuts out a lot of the electronics when the car is built and shipped so as not to drain the battery. Thumbs Up

Having one of these relays in the vehicle incase the alternator dies, could manage to keep enough voltake on the battery untill you get home perhaps? is there any disadvantages / Dager on having that relay installed, only for "emergency" use?
