cheers for the offer Nick but thankfully we're sorted
Well we finally got us all out....story goes like this, member of staff decided 9pm on the Thursday night to have a "liason" with a female member of staff and given staff having been taken to task over using spare bedrooms the inventive couple drove off in to the sunset across the open extensive grounds down a track, however the driver of the bmw mini thought it too much to reverse up the same track he once came down but to do a wide turn on the lawns only to sink in the grass, wheel spining as he went leaving his mini stuck fast up to its front valance. Overnight rain early hours of Friday morning meant it now was well and truely sunk even further some 10 hours later with gert big puddles around the front axle
Next morning at check out the receptionist asked whether I could help pull him out...thought shouldnt be a problem so backed my trailer with its 9k winch on to the grass and fed out the line some 30ft and hooked it up. Started the winch and with four people pushing from the rear of the mini the bleeding thing would not come free but all was happening was me being pulled back by the winch!
Plan b) was to operate the winch remotely at the same time as driving out.....seems the AT does not work when a trailer is attached....thus I too started to spin and dig in leaving me down around 6 inches
So rather than risk further damage to their landscaped lawns, we needed another vehicle to attached to me whilst being on decent hardsurface to act as an achor but could we find another vehicle in the car park with a tow hook...hence the post.
That said after about half an hour a member of staff's friend had a Toyota 4x4, so we tethered that to me and had the trailer behind me (all 23ft of it) with winch out 30ft (but doubled up the line to give extra pull) to the mini and successfully winched the mini out of its muddy grave then the convoy of me/trailer/toyota (parked on hardsurface) drove off pulling the mini behind leaving the groundsmen to make good the tracks...job done and bacon butties/coffee all round
Morale of the story..AT does not work when you have a trailer attached, dont drive a mini on soft grass and if yer going to have a liason with a fellow member of staff....book yerself a Travelodge

Matthew, when you say AT do mean TR? (as in Terrain Response) or are you referring to your tyres as AT's?
AFAIK the only thing that get disabled when you hook up a trailer is auto height adjustment. Glad your sorted anyway

He did mean terrain response, having chatted yesterday eve.....
When he tried to turn it on had a message on the dashboard to the effect of
........................................ 'You've got a trailer plugged in therefore you can't have TR' Nick

Glad mine doesn't appear to have been activated then cus mine does, self leveling or raising lowering and special profs all work, only annoyance is reverse sensors still try to work with trailer on, but I can live with that for the benefits of the other pros. Especially with some of the sites I have to pull out of. I was thinking of getting it plugged in and activated as per, but glad I havnt

But surely if he unplugged the trailer then the winch wouldn't have worked? Or did I miss something? Or does the trailer have a battery for the winch?
Anyhow, glad they all got out. Been a long, long time since I had a liaison in a car! You guys are gonna be busier than a test bench in a plunger factory!

Well if the Winch is wired via the 7/13 pin socket then there would be another issue
He would have wired it via an anderson or the like hence the request for a slave pack
