Tools... What tools?

As a newbie and after nearly being scared off by you lot with all the tales of broken cars... I have taken the decision (yet to find out if it is a good one Confused ) to acquire a Haynes D3 manual to learn how to do some of the work myself. Now I suppose Ill need some tools before I can call myself a man Embarassed and learn about servicing my own D3. Any suggestions from the group where to start my collection and any recommendations /must have’s are welcome

Halfords Advanced Professional do some great kit - and a lifetime guarantee (keep the receipt!)

They do a great 170 piece socket & ratchet spanner set - and on-sale at half-price (£124.99):
http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/...yId_255215

Only downside is the ratchet spanners aren't their flexi-head ones (waiting on them going on discount).

Get the 8 piece Advanced Pro screwdriver set for an extra £8.99 in their bundle offer - again lifetime guarantee.

*Should a Halfords Advanced Professional Hand Tool fail whilst being used for the purpose and in the manner for which it was designed, it will be inspected and replaced. Simply return the product to your nearest Halfords store with proof of purchase and we will arrange a replacement for you.

Welcome.

Search here - but a decent jack is essential - the OEM one is unsafe & not fit for purpose; this sort of thing:-

http://www.disco3.co.uk/forum/topic89609.html

can be bought on eBay - see other threads.

Halfords Professional tool kit, on offer at present - see their website.

Decent compressor & tyre pressure gauge.

Decent battery charger - Ctek maybe?

Protector to stop you spare wheel being stolen -

Good luck
