Fair Price For Dealer Fit Tow Electrics?
Having only ever fitted these things myself I am out of touch with dealer prices. However, a sudden and unexpected bout of ill health precludes this. As a consequence my main dealer has just asked for £325 as his best price to supply, fit and activate 13 Pin electrics on my next car.
Is this right and I am just out of touch with with non-DIY prices?Land Rover - Turning Drivers into Mechanics Since 1948

I was quoted £370 from main dealer when I bought my 2nd hand D4 last year - robbing
I thought stuff that, I'll sort it out myself when I get it only to find when I got it home it already had them fitted

I twin electrics to my d3. Took about an hour but I chose not to remove the bumper. I suspect the dealer would remove the bumper
D3 didn't need anything activating in ccf. The tow check light works as soon as you plug a trailer in. Think d4 might be the same - as the cameras I read give the additional views when trailer connected that might need turning on if you have sour round cameras. Without cameras the option comes up if you edit ccf for trailer view
I would say 2 hours labour plus retail price of electrics is going to be around 300 quid all day long. Indy would have said 250ish is what I paid for the sport a year or two back

D4 electrics DO need enabling
D3 .. Electrics will work without enabling .. But the terrain response raising with trailer attached wont

Usually takes me about an hour to fit but at the moment holding a screwdriver is a challenge.

Thanks Wiggs. Was hoping you or Andy would come along
With the d4 enabled can you get the special view to show the side of the car down both sides looking back? Andy showed me when i was at his but can't get it to show up on mine. Kerb view is about halfway down the car from front wheels and only new view is trailer view at rear.

You have to set up a trailer ... And then select side view .
Then when you select trailer view it shows the mirror cams pointing backwards G4 Gone ...but not forgotten

I was quoted £350 at first while negotiating my secondhand D4 last week. And over £300 for swan neck tow ball. He came down to £269 for elects only, then a freebie install just on electrics when I pushed harder, and the D4 needs the software tweaking to enable it. Bought the land rover tow hitch off fleebay for about £130, perfect condition and fit too.

£269 all-in sounds a bit better and I already have a ball from my D3.
Still miffed at paying so much for this when a bit crook - hoped for a little more sympathetic prices from a forum sponsor!
The secret is - don't be ill.
