Bit of an odd one
I got in the car tonight ready for work, turned the lights on, sidelights=ok headlights=ok looked down and the instrument panel was still in darkness, flashed the headlights and it sprung into action
Any ideas?

Mine does the same thing. I also noticed the radio buttons are not lit up either. I messed with the dimmer switch and they light up. I also notice it happens when the car is very very cold like less than 15F degrees. Not sure the cause yet thinking the body control module does not like to be cold.

So has anyone come to certian fix for this? Mine only fully work when on Auto, all the other settings leave the back lights of the interior buttons dark.

If they never come on it could be just a fuse. Had this exact problem when picking my D3 up from the dealer the first time . Handbook is in the car so cannot tell you which fuse to check.
