good afternoon...newbie here...anyone know the costs involved with regards
to having a deep gouge repaired on passengers door and is it an easy repair by a dealer?

Do any dealers do their own bodywork, I thought most farmed it out to a bodyshop. Is the paint broken? is the metal split? - It all depends how bad it is.

Just visit a few local body repair centers, and get a few quotes, and also, if the paint isnt broken, try someone like Dent Devils/Dentmaster - I've seen them fetch some really bad looking dents out.

I have a deep gouge still on one of my doors.

Was quoted in excess of £1700 a couple of years a go by a stealer.

Hence its STILL there.

Thumbs Up

Tip of the Day
Try some sticky vinyl in same color as your paintwork.
I did that last year when swmbo left the outside meter reading door open to flap in the wind against my D4. Evil or Very Mad
I covered the damaged area with white vinyl and after a few days when taken to bodyshop for estimate I initially couldn't find the damaged area.
With a closely matched colour it'll blend in well and you may even forget it's there.
Thumbs Up

btw, my dealer did a local repair and only cost me £30
Just can't believe the job done for that money - can't notice it at all.

How wide, long and deep is the gouge on your passengers door?

and how far away is it from the edges?

Its a couple of inches away from the edges either side and the gouge is like a small screwdriver has gone along the panel

Sounds like an easy enough repair, I am no expert but I do spend my spare time doing damaged repairables and the like. We allow £100 a panel for repair and paintwork on damage like you have described (low rate to us from a local body shop).

I did get a quote for a damaged vehicle that had a dent in the rear quarter and some along the roof line from another body shop last year as a comparison and he only quoted me £280 + VAT

I would take it to a local bodyshop and get a quote - you will probably be surprized
