Hi there
I'm just looking at buying a Disco 3 (my first Land Rover) and wondered ifI could pick your brains?
What should I be looking out for?
I've been eying up a circa 2008 7 seat XS... but there's so much confusion around the models... I thought there were 3 specs... GS - XS - HSE ... but I keep seeing S's and SE's too? Where do these fit in?
Are there any "must have's?" that you can't all live without?

Personally, I like my heated seats, heated windscreen, cruise control, auto-dipping rear view mirror, and Hi-Line stereo in my "S".
A 2008 XS would be a decent buy, IMO, but you may find that you get more useful kit on an older "S" than a newer "XS". The "XS" replaced the "S" in March 2007 (IIRC) but replaced some of the more useful bits of kit in the "S" with less useful things like folding door mirrors  . Loads of options available, though. You may get lucky with a well-specced XS! 
As youlovepetrol would be getting a V8 or a TDV6? TDV6 certainly more affordable to run as a daily motor!

didnt the V8 get dropped in 2007 for the UK, so I dont think you can get a V8 XS.
Al Volvo XC90 B5 Plus Dark

Thanks Steve! I've been after a link like that for weeks! 
I do love petrol... but Diesel is ok too! it was more about going out and getting it dirty, plus there aren't many petrol's about are there... would be worried about selling it on when the time comes.

There are a few V8 owners on here in the UK. Not many, though. Most of the V8 owners on here are based in the US!
Best advice if you're in the market for one is to keep an eye on the For Sale listings on here as you will know that the car has been owned by an enthusiast:
