This is pre formated and pre loaded with a folder that contains all the secondary boot loader files that are required for writing CCF's

I hope this helps

Colin

Hi Colin, I noted the SD card and had a quick look at it's contents with the Nanocom plugged into the PC via USB cable, there were 2 folders - BBS, SBL and then a 3rd - NCRF which got added during the S'ware upgrade, however when I try to view the SD contents from the Nanocom file manager it doesn't recognise the folders, likewise when I downloaded a modified CCF file from the Genesis site, I put the extracted two files onto the root of the drive, connected to the car and tried to flash an ECU but after selecting the "INFO.ENC" file, it displayed "File system error - SBL folder not found".

In a attempt to resolve this, I took a spare 32mb SD card, re-formatted it to FAT (with a dedicated SD format utility) and copied the two Genesis files to it and the complete SBL folder, all with the card in the PC, back in the Nanocom, the file manager would still not recognise the folder. I put the card back in the PC and deleted the SBL folder, then put it back in the Nanocom and used the "new folder" function to create the SBL folder directly from there, then copied the folder contents from the original card into it, Lo and behold the folder and all it's files are now visible.

I then went back to flash the ECU, to enable sat-nav on the move, it went through all the stages and said it was successful but took only a minute or so which made me suspicious, on checking it still has not enabled it, maybe I need to try again?

Anyway, my question is - should the Info.enc and xxx.vbf files from Genesis be placed in the root of the SD card or in a specific folder?
Also why can't the Nanocom see the folders on the original SD card?
 Clive

HI Eljot,

Could you p.m. the email address you used to register? The email is automatically generated. Check your spam folder? If not ill jump on the database and check your registration went through.

Crwoody

There is a lot of info on the SD cards / files folders etc on the Nanocom site. Your card does seem to have behaved strangely based on what you've said, ill give you that.

Ive uploaded a post on the Nanocom website under General Software for now, give it a mull over.

Furthermore the dedicated forums offer much more info and support if needed.

Thanks

Chris

Very Happy tank, at least it was a nice surprise i hope.

how to use in 3 easy steps.

1)Throw manual and all available "how to use info" over your shoulder in true man fashion.
2)Plug it in.
3)Retrieve manual and info and read through it to register the unit and use it properly Laughing
Enjoy

Chris,

Steps should read:
3 Refuse to retrive manual repeatably saying " I'm sure I can figure it out... How hard can it be?" Rolling Eyes

just to say "thank you" to chris, colin and all their colleagues who did an amazing job just to provide us with a nice toy right before christmas! Thumbs Up

already updated the latest firmware! Very Happy

but one question:

i own one of the first nanocom for my td5 which works still fine. okay, some problems with "connecting the ecu", etc. but is doing the job.

now with the nanocom evo, does it have the same funktions as the "old" nanocom? would mean that i can sell the old one, get a license key for the td5 and can use the evo?

thx, martin

Eljot, yes you just need another licence to be able to do a
D3 and a D2

That's what I bought mine for, to do both and Colin reassured me it will work

Get it while the discount is still on though

Thumbs Up
