disco3dave wrote:Are you restricted on a rim size if you upgrade your brakes from standard to v8. I'm running 17s and 18s at the mo.
Minimum wheel size is 18"
And i had NO issues with Iron filings either after i upgraded to V8's all round 35K miles ago, i cant see how they would be any different from the standard ones material wise, the pads are the same so it must be the disk material ?
Did you use OEM disks or an aftermarket alternative ? Only dead fish go with the Flow !

Quote:Iron-X is good for getting rid of the fallout..turns purple when it reacts with the metal particles.
Yes I found that after I had cleaned all the fall out off
Quote:I never had any alloy issues after I did the V8 front upgrade on my old D3. Why would it be any different to the standard discs/pads in terms of brake dust??
It was probably because I fitted new discs and pads which like everything else need bedding in. During the first few 100 miles the high spots of both disc and pad will be removed during use and fallout onto the alloys. The same thing happens when any new friction parts are fitted. Once they have bedded in, then the excessive fallout will stop.
